Weekly update: the garden, a new flimsy, and reading from With Strings Attached

 Illinois officially opened up on Friday with fewer Covid restrictions in place.  My P.E.O. chapter met for lunch on Saturday (we brought our own) -- the first in-person gathering since August.  Church services on Sunday were mask-optional.  There were twice as many people as we've had over the spring.  

A light fog over the lake on Thursday was not a harbinger of rain, unfortunately.  We are in a moderate-to-severe drought.  On Saturday we saw the clouds that brought 1" to the suburbs just south of us but not a drop fell here.

Weekly update: OMG finished + all the houses from With Strings Attached




I am an inexpert gardener, but I love to cook with fresh vegetables, so every year I buy tomato plants, seedlings, and seeds.  Ever hopeful!

It was in the high 80's Sunday afternoon when I walked in Spring Bluff Forest Preserve.  I saw a crane, five egrets, and many red-winged blackbirds.  Most of the people I saw were on bicycles, heading farther east to the marina.

Spring Gardening - Seeds! from JAQS Studio

Getting an early start on our veggie garden this year.  We're starting off with some seeds - tomatoes, zucchinis, basil, bokchoy, spinach, peppers, kale, etc.  Crossing my fingers for a healthy garden this year :).  Beans and others will be seeded straight into the vegetable boxes once weather permits.


Breaking out the peat seed planters and popsicle stick markers.
